Shipping and customs, Canada

This page is the whole cross-border picture for a Canadian order: who carries it, how long it takes, who pays the tax, and what happens if the parcel is held. It is written to be read before you buy rather than quoted back at you afterwards.

Duties and taxes are on us

All duties and import taxes are included in this price. There is nothing to pay on delivery and the courier will not invoice you at the door.

Orders ship on DDP terms, which is the customs term for it: we are the importer of record, we file and pay the entry, and the courier invoices us. You are never asked for duty, GST/HST or a brokerage fee to receive a parcel from us.

In-stock orders are dispatched from our facility in Maryland, USA, within one business day of payment, with a 3:00 PM Eastern cutoff, Monday to Friday. Transit is quoted from dispatch and does not include the dispatch window. Tracking is emailed as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.

We quote a range of business days, never a delivery date. Prepaying the duty removes the bill; it does not remove the border. A shipment selected for examination waits in the queue like any other, and a date printed on this page would be a promise neither we nor the courier can keep. The dispatch day is the part we control, so the dispatch day is the part we commit to.

If your parcel is held at the border

Customs can select any shipment for examination. It is routine, it is not a sign that anything is wrong with the order, and neither we nor the courier can shorten the queue. A held parcel usually moves within one to three business days.

Because the entry is prepaid, a hold does not turn into a bill for you. You will not be asked for duty, GST/HST or a brokerage fee to release it. If a courier ever does contact you asking for payment on a Veridian parcel, do not pay it — send us the tracking number and the reference on the notice and we will deal with the carrier directly.

If a shipment is held for more than five business days, email us with your order number. We will chase the carrier and, where a parcel cannot be released, we refund or reship it. We do not leave a customer arguing with a courier over a parcel we imported.

Canadian addresses

Enter your address exactly as Canada Post writes it: unit or suite number first, then the street address, then city, province and postal code. The postal code is in A1A 1A1 form, and a correct one matters more on a cross-border parcel than on a domestic one, because the customs entry is filed against the address on the label.

Québec

We ship to every province and territory, Québec included, on the same terms. This store is in English today. A French version is planned and we would rather say that plainly than machine-translate a page about customs and tax, where a mistranslated sentence is worse than an English one.

What that means in practice

Who ships it, and from where

Orders are packed and dispatched from our own facility in Maryland, USA, Monday to Friday, with a 3:00 PM Eastern cutoff. Nothing is drop-shipped on our behalf and nothing is forwarded through a third party, so the parcel that arrives is the one we packed.

You are not the importer

We ship delivered duty paid. We are the party that clears the goods, we pay the customs entry, and the courier bills us rather than you. You are not asked for a business number, you are not asked to self-clear, and you do not deal with a broker.

No bill at the door, no brokerage fee

Canadian buyers get caught by courier brokerage and duty-advancement charges on US parcels more than by any other cross-border cost, and they arrive after the purchase, from a driver, with no warning. We use UPS Worldwide Expedited and DHL Express Worldwide specifically because they clear a prepaid entry cleanly. We do not use UPS Standard, which bills the recipient for brokerage at delivery.

Ranges, not promised dates

We quote delivery as a range of business days after dispatch rather than as a date. A parcel crossing the border can sit in an inspection queue for a day, and a date printed on a page is a promise we would be breaking for a reason nobody controls. The dispatch day is the part we do control, and that is the part we commit to.

Independent testing, published against your lot

Every batch is analysed by an independent laboratory and its certificate is published against the lot number on your vial, so what you received can be checked against what was tested rather than against a claim on a page.

Damaged, lost or undelivered orders

Report a damaged or incorrect shipment to support@veridianbio.com within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs, and we will replace it. Every order carries shipment protection at no cost: a parcel lost, stolen or damaged in transit is replaced. Report a non-delivery within 7 days of the carrier’s marked-delivery date so we can open the claim inside the carrier’s own window.

Opened research compounds cannot be returned, in Canada as anywhere else, because storage and handling cannot be verified once a vial has left our control. If a return is ever agreed, contact us before shipping anything back — an unannounced return crossing the border creates a customs entry in your name, which is precisely the thing these terms exist to keep off you.

Research use only. Nothing on this page is customs, tax or regulatory advice. The general terms, disclaimer and privacy policy apply to every order, wherever it ships.
